More customers than ever are using Recharge’s charging network in the Nordic countries, while need for support has plummeted. Thanks to continuously improving technology and simpler payment solutions, calls to the company’s 24/7 helpline have fallen by an impressive 41 percent as customer base grew by 10 percent, according to Recharge’s newly published Insights and Sustainability Report for 2024.

In 2024, Recharge charged over 3.9 million vehicles in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, almost ten percent more than the previous year. At the same time, the number of calls to the company’s 24/7 helpline was reduced by 41 percent. This is highlighted in the company’s annual Insights Report and Sustainability Report, which were published today.
Recharge points to several factors contributing to the decrease in customer service inquiries:
- More reliable chargers: Older 50-kilowatt fast chargers are being replaced with modern ultra-fast chargers of up to 400 kilowatts. The new chargers are more reliable and need less repair.
- Simplified payment solutions: The introduction of card payment terminals and the new Recharge app have made charging easier for customers.
- Improved error handling: The customer support team is resolving issues faster and more efficiently, reducing the need for repeated calls.
“We are proud of the significantly improved charging experience throughout 2024, and we’re continuing on this path in 2025. Particularly, the introduction of card payment terminals at all ultra-fast chargers and the new Recharge app, downloaded over 300,000 times in 2024, makes charging even simpler,”
says David Lincoln Blom, Head of Brand, Marketing & Communications at Recharge.
Other Key Findings from Recharge’s Reports:
- Increasing number of ultra-fast chargers: Recharge installed 553 new ultra-fast chargers in 2024, representing a 29 percent increase. This reflects the growing demand for faster and more efficient charging solutions. All older 50-kilowatt fast chargers will be replaced with ultra-fast chargers to improve the customer experience.
- Record-high energy delivery: Recharge delivered nearly 92 million kilowatt-hours to its customers in 2024, an increase of over 15 percent from the previous year. The amount of energy delivered by ultra-fast chargers increased by 38 percent.
- Environmental impact and range: Recharge customers charged enough to drive 460 million kilometers, equivalent to 1,200 trips to the moon. This resulted in a CO₂ saving of 70,000 tons, compared to gasoline-powered vehicles.
- Changes in payment solutions: In addition to supporting payment apps from third party service providers (EMSPs), Recharge launched its own payment app in spring 2024, which was downloaded over 300,000 times before the end of the year. At the same time, a large-scale rollout of card payment terminals at ultra-fast chargers began. Only 3 percent of customers paid by card throughout 2024, but the share increased during the year and reached 12.5 percent in December. Recharge expects this share to increase significantly in 2025.
