The leading charge point operator in the Nordics sets the most ambitious net zero target in the charging industry.

Electric vehicles running on emissions-free electricity is an important part of zero-emission societies. Most other charge point operators ensure that the electricity they buy is free of CO2 emissions, but few have set targets to eliminate all emissions from not only their own operations, but also the emissions of their suppliers.

Recharge, the leading charge point operator in the Nordics, are now implementing this in their 2035 net zero target.

We believe that all companies will need to take ownership of not only their direct emissions, but also the emissions of their entire supply chain. That is what we are now doing, as we set a target for all the emissions we cause as a company, to be net zero by 2035.

Håkon Vist, CEO at Recharge.

In 2023 Recharge delivered 80 GWh energy to EV drivers in the Nordics. Recharge ensures that all the electricity they sell is renewable, through renewable energy certificates agreements. The energy was delivered through more than 3.5 million charging sessions – enabling 400 000 000 km of emission-free driving for Recharge’s customers.

What Recharge is now aiming for, while continuing to build and improve their network of charging stations, is to ensure that also the emissions from raw materials and components of the chargers, emissions from the factories assembling the chargers, and emission from constructing, installing and maintenance, will be net zero in 2035.

This is not an easy task. It will require joint efforts from our entire organisation, and it will require a deeper cooperation and teamwork with the companies we partner with
